Farmer D Organics is deeply concerned about the environmental, political and social issues related to agriculture. We believe in a more sustainable and just food system that ensures healthy food for all. Small-scale sustainable farmers have become an endangered species, topsoil is being depleted at a rapid rate, food is being shipped thousands of miles, organic waste is not being returned to the soil, toxic chemicals are polluting the environment. Too many people are suffering from poor nutrition, obesity, diabetes and other illnesses related to food.
We at Farmer D Organics believe the solution to these problems is fostering a network of sustainable regional food systems where healthy, clean food is produced in people’s backyards, schools, community gardens and small organic farms. We are working hard to provide the knowledge, products and resources to teach people how to succeed on their farms and in their backyard gardens.
We are passionate about reducing the amount of garbage going into the landfill and redirecting the organics into compost to feed back to the earth, where it is desperately needed. In order to make a difference we are working to provide a closed loop solution for food waste hauling, composting and redistribution to farmers, landscapers and home gardeners. In order to aid this challenging process, we are advocates of using compostable packaging wherever possible.
We also believe that growing and eating organic food should be enjoyed by everyone and therefore are actively working with non-profits and government to make organic local food available to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
